The HARVEY TOOL 868231 is a miniature solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in tight geometries and deep-reach applications. With a 1/32 inch (0.031 inch) cutting diameter and a stub flute length of 3/64 inch, this three-flute tool delivers accurate ball-nose profiling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. The 30-degree helical flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining rigidity at this small diameter. It is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool with an uncoated bright finish. Machinists and CNC programmers working on dies, molds, fine detail features, and medical or aerospace components will find this tool well suited to their requirements.
This end mill is built for miniature and micro-milling operations on CNC machining centers and high-speed spindles. The long-reach configuration, with a 7/32 inch reach length and a 0.171 inch neck length, allows the tool to access recessed features and deep pockets without interference from the shank. The 1/8 inch straight cylindrical shank fits standard ER collet systems commonly used in precision machining setups. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes on workpieces in steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and non-ferrous metal (N) material classifications.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers equipped with high-speed spindles and ER collet toolholding systems accepting a 1/8 inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metal workpieces per ISO material classifications P, M, K, and N.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or changing the tool. Seat the 1/8 inch shank fully into the collet and torque the collet nut to the toolholder manufacturer specification. At miniature diameters, runout control is critical — verify tool runout with a dial indicator before commencing cuts to avoid premature tool breakage.
