The HARVEY TOOL 861712-C3 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in metalworking and composite machining applications. The tool features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter, a 9/32 inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting performance. An AlTiN coating increases surface hardness and thermal resistance, extending tool life in demanding cutting conditions. With four flutes, center-cutting geometry, and right-hand cut and flute direction, this end mill handles both peripheral and plunge operations. It belongs to the long-reach, stub-flute series, offering 1 inch of reach length for accessing recessed features without sacrificing rigidity.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and CFRP composite materials. The long-reach, stub-flute configuration makes it well suited for profiling, slotting, and contouring in areas where a standard-reach tool cannot clear surrounding workpiece geometry. It is commonly used in CNC machining centers and manual mills across tool-and-die, aerospace, and general precision machining environments. A 3/16 inch shank diameter matches the cutting diameter, allowing direct collet clamping without a step-down adapter.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 3/16 inch collet or end mill holder. Compatible with workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and CFRP composites per manufacturer specification.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician using a collet chuck or end mill holder sized to the 3/16 inch shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the tool. Verify runout at the collet face before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear on small-diameter carbide tools. Follow the machine manufacturer and tool manufacturer feeds-and-speeds guidelines for the specific workpiece material and depth of cut.
