The HARVEY TOOL 853312-C6 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for machining hardened steels up to 55 Rc, as well as stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloys. It carries a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) mill diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and five helical flutes with a variable helix geometry that reduces chatter and improves surface finish at aggressive feed rates. The AlTiN PVD coating adds thermal resistance and hardness at the cutting edge, extending tool life in high-heat applications. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank, this end mill seats securely in high-precision toolholders for close-tolerance work.
This end mill is suited to hardened steel finishing and roughing operations in precision machining environments - mold and die work, tool steel components, and hardened workpieces where edge integrity and corner definition are critical. The single-end design, right-hand cutting and flute direction, and close pitch make it a direct fit for CNC machining centers running high-speed or hard-material strategies. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes where dimensional accuracy at the corner radius must be maintained.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloys. Rated for steels up to 55 Rc hardness per the End Mills for Hardened Steels series designation.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of runout before seating the end mill. Use a high-precision collet or shrink-fit toolholder as specified for this series to maintain concentricity and protect the corner radius geometry. Follow the cutting tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material and hardness.
