The HARVEY TOOL 846862 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in tight, hard-to-reach areas. With a 1/16 inch (0.0625 inch) cutting diameter, 3/32 inch (0.093 inch) length of cut, and a 1/8 inch shank diameter, this tool is built for miniature and fine-detail milling work. The long-reach, stub-flute geometry provides rigidity and access where standard-length end mills cannot reach. A 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard. The bright, uncoated finish suits a wide range of workpiece materials. This tool is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
The 846862 is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and CFRP materials. Its extended reach of 0.562 inch makes it appropriate for slotting and profiling in recessed features, deep pockets, and narrow channels where clearance is limited. The stub flute design keeps the cutting zone compact while the long neck reduces deflection risk. Single-end configuration means the tool is replaced rather than reindexed when worn.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with 1/8 inch collet or end mill holders. Rated for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and CFRP materials per Harvey Tool series designation: Miniature End Mills - Square - Long Reach, Stub Flute.
Installation is performed by machinists using a collet chuck or end mill holder sized for a 1/8 inch shank. Verify runout and holder concentricity before use, as small-diameter carbide tools are sensitive to deflection and can fracture under side load. Set appropriate feed rates and spindle speeds for the workpiece material and depth of cut. Solid carbide tools should not be used in worn or excessively flexible toolholders.
