The HARVEY TOOL 846440-C3 is a solid carbide back chamfer tool designed to cut chamfers on the reverse side of bored holes, counterbores, and through-features without repositioning the workpiece. The cutter head measures 0.21 inches in diameter with a 90-degree included angle and a 0.019-inch chamfer width. Six flutes deliver smooth chip evacuation and a clean finish on the chamfer face. An AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life in ferrous materials and high-temperature alloys. This tool is intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals working on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This back chamfer tool is suited for production and job-shop environments where back-side edge breaking or chamfering is required after drilling or boring operations. The burr-style end geometry allows the tool to pass through a drilled hole and engage the back edge on retract. It is commonly used in aerospace, automotive, and general precision machining applications where deburring and chamfering on inaccessible reverse surfaces is a recurring requirement. The 1/4-inch shank fits standard collet chucks and tool holders widely available in both CNC and manual setups.
Designed as an OEM-style back chamfer tool for use in standard 1/4-inch collet chucks and tool holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation and operation of this tool should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Confirm that the pilot hole diameter is sufficient to allow the 0.21-inch cutter head to pass through freely before engaging the back chamfer stroke. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine manufacturer guidelines for appropriate feed rates and spindle speeds for solid carbide tooling with AlTiN coating.
