The HARVEY TOOL 846430-C3 is a solid carbide back chamfer cutter designed for deburring and chamfering the back edges of drilled or milled holes. It produces a consistent 90-degree included angle chamfer with a chamfer width of 0.019 inches on a cutter head diameter of 0.165 inches. The 6-flute geometry provides smooth cutting action and improved finish quality in tight, hard-to-reach bore exits. An AlTiN coating increases surface hardness and heat resistance, making this tool suitable for harder workpiece materials. Machinists and toolroom operators use this cutter on CNC machining centers and manual mills where conventional chamfer tools cannot reach the back side of a bore.
This back chamfer cutter is suited for precision machining applications in aerospace, medical device, mold and die, and general metalworking environments. Its compact neck diameter of 0.121 inches and 2-inch overall length allow it to reach through standard through-holes while maintaining rigidity. The 3/16-inch shank diameter makes it compatible with common collet systems found on CNC and manual milling machines. It is typically used on materials ranging from aluminum alloys to hardened steels where a clean, burr-free back chamfer is required by print or quality standards.
Designed for use with 3/16-inch collet holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Fits standard ER and similar collet systems accepting a 3/16-inch shank. No specific machine model compatibility was stated in the product data.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or unloading the cutter. Seat the 3/16-inch shank fully into a clean, properly sized collet and tighten to the collet nut manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting, as excessive runout on a small-diameter neck cutter can cause tool breakage or a poor chamfer finish.
