The HARVEY TOOL 835978 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With a 0.078 inch (5/64 inch) mill diameter, a 0.234 inch length of cut, and a 3-flute helical geometry, this tool handles both roughing and finishing operations in a single pass. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces in tight-tolerance work. At 1.5 inches overall length with a 0.125 inch straight-cylindrical shank, this is a miniature-series tool built for high-precision machining centers and CNC mills requiring small-diameter toolpaths.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals in applications where fine detail and close tolerances are required. Typical use cases include die and mold work, prototype machining, and finish passes on contoured surfaces. The uncoated bright finish makes it appropriate for applications where coating interaction with the workpiece material is a concern, or where regrinding is anticipated. Single-end configuration provides a consistent reference for tool length offset setup.
Designed as an OEM-style miniature ball end mill for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with standard 1/8 inch collet or end mill holder systems. Compatible with primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, and N covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully powered down and locked out per applicable machine-specific procedures. Verify collet and holder runout before use, as runout at small diameters significantly affects tool life and surface finish. Do not exceed manufacturer-recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and depth of cut. Inspect the tool for chipping or wear before each setup.
