The HARVEY TOOL 831740 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision material removal in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 3/8-inch diameter, a 1-inch length of cut, and a 0.04-inch corner radius with a tight tolerance of plus or minus 0.001 inches. The three-flute, right-hand helical design supports both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool, reducing setup changes on CNC mills and machining centers. The bright uncoated finish makes it well suited for applications where coating interaction with the workpiece material is a concern. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill fits into the Harvey Tool Miniature End Mills Corner Radius Stub and Standard series and is built for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, aluminum, wood, and composite materials. The stub and standard length geometry keeps the tool rigid during aggressive cuts while the corner radius protects edge integrity at corners and blends. It is suited for mold and die work, aerospace component machining, and general precision part production where a sharp inside radius must be avoided and tool life at the cutting edge is critical.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders and collet chucks that accept a 3/8-inch straight cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, aluminum, wood, and composites per the manufacturer material application data.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the tool from the toolholder or collet. Verify shank runout is within machine and application tolerances before beginning a cut, as carbide end mills are sensitive to excessive runout which can cause premature chipping. Do not exceed manufacturer-recommended feeds and speeds for the workpiece material being machined.
