The HARVEY TOOL 803162-C3 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous materials including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The 0.062 inch diameter cutting head carries four helical right-hand flutes with a 30-degree helix angle and an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating, which extends tool life under high-heat cutting conditions. The stub flute geometry paired with a long-reach neck keeps the tool rigid at miniature diameters. This mill is used by machinists and toolmakers for profile milling, slotting, and contouring in tight geometries where standard-length tools cannot reach.
This end mill fits applications requiring extended reach with a short flute length, common in mold and die work, medical component machining, and precision part production on CNC machining centers and mills. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard collet and end mill holders. Its stub flute length of 0.093 inches supports aggressive material removal rates while maintaining deflection control at the miniature scale. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, and cast iron, making it a strong choice for production and prototype work in ferrous-material shops.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical collets or end mill holders. Rated for primary workpiece materials steel, stainless steel, and cast iron (material codes P, M, and K). Coolant-through is not supported; external coolant or mist is appropriate.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with miniature tooling. Secure the 0.125 inch shank in a precision collet or end mill holder, ensuring adequate engagement depth without contacting the neck taper. At this diameter, tool runout must be minimized — use a quality collet and verify TIR before beginning a cut. Do not apply side loads beyond the tool manufacturer's recommended parameters for this diameter and reach ratio.
