The HARVEY TOOL 798208-C6 is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for material removal in hardened steels and demanding alloys. This single-end, 6-flute tool features a 0.125-inch mill diameter, a 0.187-inch reach length, and a 2.5-inch overall length with a 0.25-inch straight cylindrical shank. The variable helix geometry — nominally 37 degrees — reduces harmonics and chatter during aggressive cuts. An AlTiN Nano PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in hard, abrasive workpiece materials. This stub-length profile is suited for high-rigidity roughing applications where deflection control is critical.
The 798208-C6 is designed for cutting hardened steels up to 55 Rc as its primary application, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with standard CNC machining center spindle configurations. The 6-flute, helical flute design supports higher feed rates in hard-material roughing passes. This tool does not include coolant-through capability or extended reach, making it most appropriate for shallow-to-medium-depth pocket and contour operations in rigid setups.
Rated for primary use in hardened steels up to 55 Rc and secondary use in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Fits standard 0.25-inch collets or tool holders on CNC machining centers. Shank diameter tolerance is h6.
Installation and operation of this end mill should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the tool holder, collet, and spindle are clean and within tolerance before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator before first use, as excessive runout will accelerate wear and reduce cut quality. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines for feeds, speeds, and depth-of-cut when cutting hardened or high-temperature alloys.
