The HARVEY TOOL 73047 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in tight geometries and small-feature applications. With a 3/64 inch (0.0470 inch) cutting diameter and a 9/64 inch (0.1410 inch) length of cut, this tool handles fine-detail slotting, profiling, and pocketing where larger tooling cannot reach. The four-flute, right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration delivers smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting action. A 30-degree helix angle balances cutting forces across the flute length, reducing chatter on light-duty passes. The 1/8 inch shank fits standard collet chucks and tool holders common in CNC machining centers.
This end mill is suited for machinists working on small-part milling in materials where an uncoated solid carbide tool is appropriate, including aluminum, brass, plastics, and some ferrous alloys at reduced feeds and speeds. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional ramp and helical interpolation. It is a single-end tool, meaning it is replaced rather than flipped when the cutting end wears. Typical applications include prototype work, mold cavity details, medical component milling, and electronics enclosure features requiring fine-tolerance slots or profiles.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers or manual mills equipped with a 1/8 inch collet or end mill holder. Compatible with standard ER-series collet chucks and similar toolholding systems accepting a 0.1250 inch shank diameter.
This tool is installed by a machinist or CNC setup technician using a calibrated collet chuck or shrink-fit holder rated for the 1/8 inch shank diameter. Ensure the collet bore is clean and free of chips before seating the shank to the recommended insertion depth. At this diameter, runout control is critical — use a collet or holder with measured TIR well within industry tolerance for small-diameter tooling. Do not use an oversized or worn collet, as radial play at this scale will rapidly degrade the cutting edge.
