The HARVEY TOOL 73040-C4 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in demanding shop environments. With a 0.0400 inch cutting diameter and four flutes, this tool delivers clean, accurate cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The amorphous diamond coating reduces friction and extends tool life in abrasive applications. A 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry follow standard milling conventions. This end mill is typically installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in precision manufacturing, tooling, and prototype environments.
This end mill is suited for small-feature milling, slotting, profiling, and contouring operations where tight tolerances and fine detail are required. The 0.12 inch length of cut makes it appropriate for shallow pocket work and fine detail passes. The 0.125 inch shank diameter fits standard 1/8 inch collets and tool holders commonly found on CNC machining centers and high-speed spindles. Center-cutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into workpieces without pre-drilling.
Designed for use with standard 1/8 inch collets and tool holders on CNC machining centers and high-speed milling spindles. Suitable for small-feature milling applications across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for tool runout and collet torque. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in a safe state before changing tooling. Verify collet and holder cleanliness before seating the shank to prevent runout and premature tool wear. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate settings are appropriate for the workpiece material and cut depth before beginning operation.
