The HARVEY TOOL 73031-C4 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision material removal in miniature and close-tolerance machining applications. Built from solid carbide and finished with an amorphous diamond (PVD diamond) coating, this tool delivers the hardness and edge retention required in demanding cutting environments. The 1/32 inch (0.0310 inch) cutting diameter pairs with a 3/32 inch (0.0930 inch) length of cut and a 30-degree helix angle, making it well-suited for light, controlled passes in hard and abrasive workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users of this type of miniature end mill.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where miniature features, slots, or profiles require tight dimensional control. It is rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, and CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced polymer) materials. The stub and standard flute geometry in the miniature series makes this tool appropriate for shallow-pocket and slot milling where rigidity is critical and deflection must be minimized. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional spindle setups.
Rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and CFRP materials (material codes P, M, K, N, C). Part of the Harvey Tool Miniature End Mills - Square - Stub and Standard series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the spindle fully de-energized and the machine in a locked-out state per shop safety protocol. Secure the 1/8 inch shank in a matching precision collet or end mill holder; avoid side-loading or over-tightening that could fracture the carbide shank at this diameter. At 1/32 inch cutting diameter, feed and speed parameters must be carefully calculated to avoid tool breakage — consult the manufacturer published speeds and feeds chart for this series. This tool is not designed for coolant-through delivery; direct flood or mist coolant at the cutting zone externally if coolant is used.
