The HARVEY TOOL 70104-C3 is a solid carbide helical flute thread mill designed to cut 5/8-11 UNC threads in both internal and external applications. It features 4 flutes and an AlTiN coating, making it well suited for high-speed machining in ferrous and hardened materials. The cutter measures 0.47 inches in cutting diameter with a 1/2-inch shank diameter, a 1.25-inch length of cut, and a 3.5-inch overall length. At 11 teeth per inch, this tool is purpose-built for the 5/8-11 thread standard and delivers consistent thread form in a single helical interpolation pass.

This thread mill is used in CNC machining centers for threading operations where tap breakage risk is a concern or where a single tool must handle both internal and external thread forms. Common applications include production machining of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other materials compatible with AlTiN-coated carbide tooling. The helical flute geometry supports chip evacuation during interpolation. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool, so flood or mist coolant delivery from the spindle direction is the typical approach in shop use.
