The HARVEY TOOL 64512-C6 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding material removal in high-temperature alloys, hardened steels, stainless steel, and cast iron. It features a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) diameter, a 0.0150 inch corner radius, and a 4-flute variable helix geometry that reduces harmonics and chatter during aggressive cuts. The AlTiN PVD coating provides oxidation resistance and hardness retention at elevated cutting temperatures. With an overall length of 3 inches, a stub flute length of cut of 0.5000 inch, and a 1 inch reach length, this tool is built for extended-reach applications where rigidity and precision are critical. It is a single-end, center-cutting design with a right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining operations in aerospace, die and mold, and general precision machining environments. The extended reach and stub flute configuration make it particularly effective in cavities, pockets, and contoured surfaces where a standard-reach tool cannot access the workpiece. Recommended workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloys. For best results, this tool should be used with a high-precision toolholder to maintain runout control and maximize tool life in difficult-to-cut materials.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders in CNC milling applications involving steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloys. Part of the HARVEY TOOL Variable Helix End Mills for High Temp Alloys - Corner Radius - Long Reach, Stub Flute series.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle powered down and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. This tool requires a high-precision toolholder to minimize runout, which directly affects corner radius accuracy and tool life. Secure the straight cylindrical shank to the specified h6 shank diameter tolerance using an appropriate collet or shrink-fit holder. Consult the machine tool manufacturer and cutting data recommendations before establishing feeds and speeds for hard or abrasive workpiece materials.
