The HARVEY TOOL 63647-C6 is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for high-temperature alloy machining, including superalloys and titanium. It features a 0.047-inch mill diameter, 4 helical flutes with a variable helix angle of 34 degrees, and an AlTiN Nano PVD coating that resists heat and wear in demanding cutting conditions. The stub flute geometry paired with a long-reach neck allows access to deep features while maintaining rigidity. With a 2.5-inch overall length and a 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank, this single-end tool is suited for CNC milling operations requiring precision at very small diameters. It is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in metalworking shops running multi-axis CNC equipment.
This end mill is designed primarily for roughing operations in superalloys and titanium (ISO material group S), with secondary capability in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO groups P, M, K, and H). The long-reach, stub-flute configuration makes it well suited for slotting, profiling, and contouring in deep cavities or thin-wall aerospace and medical components where tool clearance is limited. The 0.25-inch reach length and 0.18-inch neck length provide clearance past the workpiece edge without sacrificing cutting stability.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers with standard 1/8-inch collet or end mill holder systems. Primary workpiece material is superalloys and titanium; secondary materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's setup procedures. Secure the 1/8-inch shank in a properly sized collet or shrink-fit holder and verify runout before initiating a cut. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool. At 0.047-inch diameter, this tool is highly susceptible to breakage from excessive radial engagement, incorrect feed rates, or improper tool holding — always program conservative entry moves and verify CAM toolpath parameters before running.
