The HARVEY TOOL 60038 is a solid carbide, uncoated triangular milling insert designed for precision material removal in milling applications. Carrying an ANSI code of TPET-321-AL, this insert features a positive rake geometry and an 11-degree relief angle that together reduce cutting forces on non-ferrous workpieces. The inscribed circle measures 0.3750 inches, thickness is 0.1250 inches, and the maximum depth of cut reaches 0.1250 inches. With three cutting edges on a single-sided configuration, the insert delivers consistent performance through multiple index positions before replacement. Machinists and toolroom professionals handling aluminum and other non-ferrous metals are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is intended for non-ferrous metal milling operations, including aluminum, copper, and similar materials classified under workpiece material code N. The positive rake and AL chip breaker geometry are optimized for clean chip evacuation at higher surface speeds typical of non-ferrous cuts. It is screw-held into compatible cutter bodies and suits both production and job-shop environments where consistent edge geometry across a run is essential. The neutral hand designation means it can be oriented for standard milling setups without requiring handed tooling.
Compatible with Harvey Tool cutter series 81250 and 81260. This insert follows ANSI standard TPET-321-AL specifications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to secure the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamp force. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
