The HARVEY TOOL 53662-C6 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials. It features a 0.062 inch diameter cutting profile, a 0.01 inch corner radius, and three variable-helix flutes that reduce harmonic chatter and improve surface finish during both roughing and finishing passes. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating provides elevated heat resistance, making this tool well-suited for sustained cuts in heat-generating alloys. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a 1/8 inch straight shank. Installed by machinists and CNC tool-room operators, this end mill is built for precision work where tight tolerances and tool life in difficult materials are both required.
This end mill is intended for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloys, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, K, and H. The long-length geometry with a 5/16 inch length of cut allows access to features requiring extended reach without sacrificing rigidity. It is single-end and center-cutting, supporting both plunge and lateral entry. The manufacturer specifies use with a high-precision toolholder to maintain runout control at this small diameter. Typical applications include contour milling, profiling, and pocket work in aerospace, die-and-mold, and precision machining environments where high-temp alloys and hardened steels are common workpiece materials.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloys (ISO material groups P, M, K, H). Manufacturer specifies use with a high-precision toolholder. Part of the Harvey Tool Variable Helix End Mills for High Temp Alloys - Corner Radius series.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Secure the 1/8 inch straight shank in a high-precision collet or toolholder to minimize runout at this diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool-change position is safe before loading or removing the cutter. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material group to avoid micro-fracture of the carbide substrate.
