The HARVEY TOOL 53078-C4 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in aluminum alloys, as well as steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and composite materials. It carries a diamond PVD coating for extended tool life and reduced built-up edge in non-ferrous applications. The cutter measures 0.0780 inches in diameter with a 0.4060-inch length of cut, a 2.5-inch overall length, and a 1/8-inch straight cylindrical shank. A 42-degree variable helix geometry combined with centercutting capability makes this tool suited for both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool path.
This end mill fits applications in precision machining environments where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are critical. With a corner radius of 0.0050 inches, it reduces stress concentration at part corners compared to sharp-cornered square end mills. The three-flute, right-hand spiral configuration supports efficient chip evacuation in aluminum and non-ferrous cuts. It is intended for use with high-precision toolholders to maintain runout control at this diameter. Typical users include CNC machinists and toolroom technicians working on prototype and production parts in aluminum, cast iron, and engineered composites.
Designed for use in high-precision toolholders. Specified for primary workpiece materials including aluminum, cast iron, steel, stainless steel, wood, and composites per material codes P, M, K, N, and O.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank in a high-precision collet or shrink-fit toolholder appropriate for 1/8-inch diameter shanks to maintain proper runout. Verify spindle speed and feed rate settings match the workpiece material before beginning the cut. At this diameter, excessive runout or improper clamping will accelerate tool wear and compromise tolerance.
