The HARVEY TOOL 52831 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-precision milling operations in demanding metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.0312-inch cutting diameter and a 0.0265-inch length of cut, this micro-end mill is built for small-feature detail work including slots, contours, and profiling passes where tight tolerances are required. The 2-flute geometry supports efficient chip evacuation in confined cutting zones. At 1.5 inches overall length with a 0.125-inch shank diameter, it mounts in standard collet toolholding systems. The uncoated solid carbide construction delivers consistent hardness and edge retention across a range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators working in tool rooms, prototype shops, and production cells rely on this geometry for micro-scale work.
This end mill is suited for small-feature milling in materials such as aluminum, brass, plastics, and softer steels. The ball nose profile makes it appropriate for 3D contouring, ramp entry, and radius-floor pocket work on CNC machining centers and high-speed spindle setups. The compact OAL and narrow shank diameter make it a natural fit for micro-milling fixtures where clearance is limited. Single-end configuration means the tool is replaced rather than reindexed at end of life.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-geometry ball end mill for CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with collet toolholding that accepts a 0.125-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and the tool changer or spindle is at a safe rest position before handling micro end mills of this diameter. Secure the shank fully within the collet to the recommended gauge-line depth before torquing the collet nut. At this diameter, runout control is critical - inspect collet condition and clean the taper before seating the tool.
