The HARVEY TOOL 52278-C6 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials. The tool measures 0.078 inches in diameter with a 0.01-inch corner radius and a 0.1250-inch straight cylindrical shank. It features a variable helix geometry and an AlTiN PVD coating that extends tool life when cutting at elevated temperatures. With three flutes and a 0.6299-inch length of cut, this single-end mill handles both roughing and finishing passes. Overall length is 1.5 inches. It is intended for use with high-precision toolholders and is suited for right-hand cutting in right-hand flute orientation.
This end mill is engineered for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloys including high-temperature materials. The variable helix design reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive material removal, making it a practical choice for aerospace, die and mold, and precision machining operations. The short flute length and solid carbide construction provide rigidity in tight-tolerance applications where deflection must be minimized. It is compatible with ISO material groups P, M, K, and H. A licensed machinist or CNC programmer would typically select this tool for finishing passes on hardened steels or exotic alloys where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloys. Intended for ISO workpiece material groups P, M, K, and H as part of the HARVEY TOOL Variable Helix End Mills for High Temp Alloys series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Use a high-precision collet or shrink-fit holder to maintain runout within the tolerance requirements for this tool diameter. Verify programmed feeds and speeds are appropriate for the workpiece material and do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended parameters before initiating a cut.
