The HARVEY TOOL 52231-C6 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding material removal in high-temperature alloys, stainless steel, steel, and cast iron. It features a 0.031-inch mill diameter, a 0.005-inch corner radius, and a variable helix design that reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. With three flutes and an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating, this tool handles both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup. The 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank and short flute geometry provide rigidity in tight-clearance applications. Installed in a high-precision toolholder, this end mill is well suited for production environments where tight tolerances and surface finish are critical.
This end mill is designed for use in CNC milling applications involving hard and difficult-to-machine materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloys. Its short flute length and compact 0.031-inch diameter make it appropriate for fine-feature milling, slot work, and contour operations in aerospace, medical, and die-mold components. The variable helix geometry is specifically developed for high-temperature alloy applications where conventional fixed-helix tools tend to chatter or wear prematurely. Pairing with a high-precision toolholder is recommended to take full advantage of the close diameter and shank tolerances.
Designed for use with high-precision toolholders in CNC milling machines. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard alloys. Part of the Harvey Tool Variable Helix End Mills for High Temp Alloys - Corner Radius series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, de-energized state. Use a high-precision toolholder to stay within the stated shank diameter tolerance (h6) and maintain runout control at this diameter. Avoid applying side loads beyond the rated cut depth for a tool of this diameter, as solid carbide end mills at sub-1/8-inch diameters are susceptible to breakage under deflection. Follow the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material.
