The HARVEY TOOL 51532 is a single-flute, solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling applications where chip clearance and surface finish are critical. The cutter measures 0.5 inches in diameter with a 1.5-inch length of cut and a 3-inch overall length, all on a 0.5-inch shank. The single upcut flute geometry promotes aggressive chip evacuation, reducing heat buildup in the cut zone. With a 22-degree helix angle and right-hand cut direction, this end mill is suited for applications where clean slot milling, profiling, and plunge cuts are required in challenging materials. It is supplied uncoated (bright finish) and is ready for use as received or with operator-selected coatings.
This end mill is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where a single-flute tool is preferred for its superior chip-clearing capability, particularly in softer metals, plastics, composites, and non-ferrous materials. The solid carbide construction provides rigidity and wear resistance compared to HSS tooling. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, aerospace shops, and general manufacturing facilities are the typical end users. The 3-inch overall length allows adequate reach for deeper pockets while maintaining tool rigidity on standard toolholding systems.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC machining centers and manual mills using 0.5-inch (1/2-inch) collets or end mill holders. Confirm spindle speed, feed rate, and depth-of-cut parameters against your machine and workpiece material specifications before use.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine in an e-stop or lockout/tagout state per applicable shop safety procedures. Ensure the shank is clean and free of chips or coolant residue before seating in the toolholder to maintain runout accuracy. Torque the toolholder to the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not use shop-estimated torque. Verify tool projection and length of cut clearance before initiating the first cut cycle.
