The HARVEY TOOL 50312-C3 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in milling applications. With a 3/16 inch mill diameter and a 5/16 inch length of cut, this tool delivers tight-tolerance slot milling, profiling, and pocketing in a compact form factor. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. It is a centercutting, single-end tool, allowing plunge entry directly into the workpiece. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this type of end mill in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is suited for high-speed finish milling and light roughing passes in steel, stainless steel, and similar hard materials. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC milling setups. The 3/16 inch shank diameter fits standard collets and end mill holders in that bore size. At 2 inches overall length, it provides a compact reach that minimizes deflection in close-tolerance work. Typical applications include mold and die work, aerospace component machining, and precision fixture fabrication where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical.
Designed as a drop-in replacement for solid carbide square end mills requiring a 3/16 inch shank diameter in standard collets or end mill holders.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder and torque the retention mechanism to the machine or toolholder specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing the cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear on small-diameter carbide end mills.
