The HARVEY TOOL 49862 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in tight-tolerance applications. With a 1/16 inch cutter diameter and a 5/16 inch length of cut, this tool handles slotting, profiling, and contouring in small-feature work where rigidity and edge sharpness are critical. The 2-flute geometry with a 20-degree helix angle supports efficient chip evacuation in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The bright/uncoated finish makes it well suited for aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous alloys where coating adhesion is not required. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this end mill in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill fits applications requiring fine detail work in small cavities, narrow slots, and edge finishing passes. The 1/8 inch shank diameter seats in standard collets or tool holders on vertical machining centers. At 2 inches overall length, the tool maintains stiffness while providing enough reach for typical shallow-pocket and 2D-profile work. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional CNC milling setups. The upcut flute geometry lifts chips away from the cut zone, reducing recutting and heat buildup in the workpiece.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard addition for CNC machining centers and manual mills using 1/8 inch collets or end mill holders with right-hand cutting toolpaths.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the 1/8 inch shank fully into the collet or tool holder and torque the retention nut according to the machine and holder manufacturer guidelines. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout on small-diameter end mills significantly reduces tool life.
