The HARVEY TOOL 48962 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With a 1/16 inch (0.0625 inch) cutting diameter and 3-flute geometry, it delivers clean, accurate cuts at small scale. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces during passes. This uncoated tool is centercutting, allowing direct plunging into material without a pre-drilled entry point. It is suited for machinists and toolmakers running CNC milling centers or manual mills where fine detail work and tight tolerances are required.
This end mill is used in precision machining environments including mold and die work, prototype fabrication, and small-feature contouring or slotting. The 3/32 inch length of cut and 1/8 inch shank diameter make it well matched to high-speed spindle setups on CNC machining centers handling fine detail passes. A right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction is standard for conventional CNC mill operations. The 0.95 inch reach length supports access to recessed features without excessive overhang.
Designed as a standard single-end square end mill with a 1/8 inch shank diameter, compatible with collets and tool holders sized for 1/8 inch shanks on CNC milling centers and manual mills.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine spindle fully stopped and power isolated. Secure the 1/8 inch shank in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder, torquing to the machine manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges and shank for damage before use, as solid carbide tooling at small diameters is brittle and susceptible to breakage from side loading or improper runout. Follow shop-standard speeds and feeds for the work material and do not exceed the 3/32 inch length of cut during full-width passes.
