The HARVEY TOOL 48915-C3 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling in demanding machining environments. With a 0.0156 inch (1/64 inch) cutting diameter and a 0.022 inch length of cut, this tool is built for micro-machining applications where tight tolerances are critical. The 3-flute geometry paired with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. An AlTiN coating adds heat resistance and extends tool life during high-speed cutting in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This end mill is a single-end, centercutting tool, making it suitable for plunging, slotting, and profiling at miniature scales. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on precision components are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for small-feature milling on hardened steels, stainless steel, titanium, and similar difficult-to-machine materials. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC machining center setups. The 0.125 inch shank diameter fits standard collets and end mill holders on vertical and horizontal machining centers. With a 2.5 inch overall length and a 0.225 inch reach length, this tool provides adequate clearance for recessed features while maintaining rigidity at its micro diameter. It is not an extended-reach tool, so it is best applied where minimal overhang is achievable.
Designed for use in standard CNC machining centers with collets or end mill holders accepting a 0.125 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for tool holding and runout tolerances. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder to minimize runout, which is critical at this diameter. At micro diameters, even minor misalignment or excessive overhang can result in tool breakage.
