The HARVEY TOOL 48662-C4 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding machining applications. With a 1/16 inch cutter diameter and a 0.186 inch length of cut, this tool is built for tight-tolerance work in small-feature machining. The amorphous diamond coating provides exceptional hardness and lubricity, making it well suited for cutting abrasive non-ferrous materials, composites, and graphite. The two-flute, single-end configuration with a right-hand cutting direction and upcut flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. A 20-degree helix angle balances cutting forces and surface finish quality. This end mill is used in CNC milling operations where small-diameter tooling is required. The 1/16 inch diameter makes it suitable for micro-machining, engraving, and fine slot milling in non-ferrous metals, plastics, carbon fiber, and other abrasive materials that benefit from diamond-coated tooling. The 1/8 inch shank diameter is compatible with standard collet systems commonly found in vertical machining centers and high-speed spindles. The 1-1/2 inch overall length provides enough reach for most shallow-feature milling operations without sacrificing rigidity.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for 1/16 inch diameter square end mills using a 1/8 inch shank in standard ER or precision collet systems on CNC vertical machining centers and high-speed milling spindles.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully powered down and locked out before tool changes. Seat the 1/8 inch shank fully into the collet and torque the collet nut to the collet manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges under magnification before use, as carbide micro-end mills are susceptible to chipping if dropped or improperly handled. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as excessive runout accelerates wear on small-diameter tooling.
