The HARVEY TOOL 47708 is a solid carbide pointed engraving cutter designed for precision engraving and marking operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built with a 30-degree included angle and a pointed tip geometry, it produces clean, defined lines in demanding machining environments. The cutter measures 1/8 inch in diameter with a matching 1/8-inch shank, a length of cut of 0.224 inches, and an overall length of 1-1/2 inches. Two right-hand flutes provide efficient chip evacuation during operation. The bright uncoated finish is suited for applications where coating adhesion or heat buildup is not a primary concern. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops and production environments are the typical users of this tool.
This engraving cutter is intended for use on ferrous metals and non-ferrous metals, making it a versatile choice for part marking, decorative engraving, and fine detail work across a range of workpiece materials. Its compact 1/8-inch shank fits standard collet toolholders commonly found on CNC machining centers, engraving machines, and high-speed routers. The pointed geometry makes it well-suited for V-groove engraving, text marking, and logo engraving where a sharp, precise impression is required. Single-piece packaging supports one-off replacement or tooling inventory restocking without minimum lot commitment.
Designed for use on ferrous metals and non-ferrous metals. Fits standard 1/8-inch collet toolholders used on CNC machining centers and engraving machines.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the collet before tightening to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque range. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run to protect both the cutter and the workpiece. Do not exceed the cutter's rated diameter or depth-of-cut for the material being machined.
