The HARVEY TOOL 44924 is a single-flute, solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations where clean surface finish and chip evacuation are critical. With a 3/8-inch cutter diameter, a 1-1/8-inch length of cut, and a 3-inch overall length, this tool is built for applications where a standard multi-flute end mill would generate excessive heat or chip packing. The downcut flute geometry pushes chips downward, reducing surface tearout on the top edge of a cut. A 22-degree helix angle and right-hand cut with right-hand flute orientation round out the core geometry. This end mill is uncoated and centercutting, making it suitable for plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling.
This end mill is well suited for routing and milling operations in wood, plastics, composites, and soft non-ferrous materials where downcut geometry provides a clean top-edge finish. The single-flute design allows higher feed rates at lower RPM in softer materials, reducing heat buildup and improving chip clearance. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments will find this tool appropriate for laminated panels, foam, and similar materials that demand burr-free top surfaces. It is a single-end tool and is not reversible.
Designed to fit standard 3/8-inch collets and end mill holders on CNC routers and vertical machining centers. No specific OEM model compatibility was provided with this product listing.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully powered down and locked out before tool changes. Ensure the shank is clean and fully seated in the collet or end mill holder to the recommended engagement depth before torquing the retaining nut. Do not exceed manufacturer-recommended speeds and feeds for the material being cut. Downcut tools generate axial forces that push into the workpiece surface, so workholding must be secure to prevent part movement.
