The HARVEY TOOL 44562-C3 is a solid carbide Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for cutting keyseats and slots in a wide range of workpiece materials. It features a 0.25-inch cutting diameter and a 0.062-inch cutting width, with a staggered-tooth configuration across 6 teeth for smoother chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. The cutter carries an AlTiN coating, which improves heat resistance and extends tool life in demanding applications. The 1/4-inch shank diameter and 2.5-inch overall length make it compatible with standard collet toolholding systems. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this cutter in milling machines and machining centers for precise keyseat operations.
This cutter is suited for keyseat and slot milling in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron as primary workpiece materials. It is also capable in secondary applications involving non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The staggered-tooth geometry makes it a practical choice for both roughing and finishing keyseats where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required. It is appropriate for use in both job shop and production machining environments where carbide tooling is standard.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Fits standard 1/4-inch collet or toolholder systems. No Weldon flat is present on the shank.
Installation is performed by machinists using a milling machine or CNC machining center with a compatible 1/4-inch collet or end mill holder. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing or seating the cutter. Verify runout at the shank before beginning the cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on small-diameter carbide tooling. Follow the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material and coating type.
