The HARVEY TOOL 41475 is a solid carbide single profile thread mill designed to cut both internal and external threads across a wide range in a single tool. It covers thread sizes from 5/8-11 through 5/8-32, handling 11 to 32 TPI without a tool change. The 0.45-inch cutting diameter and 6-flute geometry allow efficient chip evacuation and consistent thread form on each pass. With a 0.30-inch neck diameter and 1.375-inch neck length, the tool provides clearance in confined bores. Machinists and tool and die professionals use this tool on CNC machining centers where thread milling is preferred over tapping for accuracy or material reasons.
This thread mill suits production and job-shop environments running ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a single tool must cover multiple thread pitches in the 5/8-inch size range. The bright uncoated finish makes it appropriate for a broad range of workpiece materials without coating-related adhesion concerns. Typical applications include threaded hole production in aluminum, steel, and stainless components where interrupted cuts or blind-hole thread relief is required. The 1/2-inch shank diameter fits standard ER and end mill collet systems commonly found on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed as a single profile thread mill for 5/8-11 through 5/8-32 threaded features on CNC machining centers equipped with a 1/2-inch collet or end mill holder.
Thread milling is performed by a licensed or qualified CNC machinist using helical interpolation cycles on a 3-axis or greater machining center. Confirm runout at the collet before operation, as excessive runout directly affects thread form accuracy. Power down and lock out the spindle before tool changes or inspection. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine builder guidelines for feeds, speeds, and helical ramp angles specific to the workpiece material.
