The HARVEY TOOL 41312-C3 is a solid carbide undercut end mill designed for machining operations that require radial material removal below the workpiece surface or behind a shoulder. Built with a 270-degree wrap angle and four flutes in a right-hand cutting, right-hand flute configuration, it delivers stable, efficient cutting in a single-end format. The 3/16 inch (0.1870 inch decimal) mill diameter and AlTiN coating make it well suited for hardened steels, stainless, and high-temperature alloys. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in precision manufacturing environments.
This undercut end mill is used in applications where conventional end mills cannot reach, including T-slot undercutting, dovetail-style recesses, and undercut profiling on molds, dies, and precision machined components. Its narrow neck diameter of 0.117 inches and neck length of 0.75 inches allow access to restricted geometries. The 0.16 inch length of cut keeps engagement controlled, reducing deflection in tight-clearance operations. Suitable for both vertical and horizontal machining centers running appropriate feeds and speeds for carbide tooling.
Designed for use in standard 3/16 inch collets or end mill holders on CNC vertical or horizontal machining centers compatible with solid carbide single-end tooling.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Seat the 3/16 inch shank fully and evenly in the collet or holder before tightening to the tool holder manufacturer's specified clamping method. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear and increases the risk of tool breakage at the reduced neck. Program feeds and speeds appropriate for solid carbide tooling in the workpiece material, and confirm clearance planes account for the neck length to avoid unintended contact.
