The HARVEY TOOL 39308-C6 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling in medium alloy steels, hard materials, and secondary workpiece materials including stainless steel and cast iron. The cutter measures 0.125 inches in diameter with a 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank and a 3-inch overall length. An AlTiN Nano PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The 35-degree helix angle and 2-flute geometry support both roughing and finishing passes. Extended tapered reach geometry makes this tool well suited for mold cavity work and deep-feature profiling where clearance is critical.
This end mill belongs to the High Helix End Mills for Medium Alloy Steels - Ball - Tapered Reach series, positioned specifically as a mold cutter for material-specific applications. The tapered neck and extended reach of 1.529 inches allow access to deep pockets and contoured mold surfaces without sacrificing rigidity at the cutting end. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. The single-end configuration and stub length type make it a straightforward drop-in for CNC machining centers running steel and hard-material mold work in tool and die, aerospace component, and precision manufacturing environments.
Primary workpiece materials are steel and hard materials (ISO material codes P and H). Secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel and cast iron (ISO codes M and K). Part of the High Helix End Mills for Medium Alloy Steels - Ball - Tapered Reach (Mold Cutters) series.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tool and die technician. The straight-cylindrical shank uses an h6 diameter tolerance and seats in a standard collet or end mill holder rated for the 3/8-inch shank size. Confirm the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the cutter. Do not exceed manufacturer-recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and coating type.
