The HARVEY TOOL 38793-C6 is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for finishing operations in hardened and difficult-to-machine materials. Built to the End Mills for Hardened Steels - Finishers - Ball series, it features a 3/32 inch (0.0930 inch decimal) mill diameter with a 0.0465 inch nose radius and a 2-flute, right-hand spiral configuration. The AlTiN Nano PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in high-heat cutting environments. With a 20-degree helix angle and stub-length classification, this end mill is suited for light radial finishing passes where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are the priority. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working with hardened steels, stainless steel, and cast iron are the primary users.
This end mill is designed for finishing passes in hard materials including hardened steels, stainless steel, and cast iron. The extended reach design, with a 0.5000 inch reach length and 0.4260 inch neck length, allows access to deeper features and pocketed geometries without excessive tool deflection. It is a single-end, straight-cylindrical shank tool with a 1/4 inch shank diameter, making it compatible with standard collet and end mill holder systems found on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The stub flute length of 0.0740 inches LOC keeps the cutting zone short and rigid, which is appropriate for high-hardness finishing where chatter control matters.
Designed for finishing operations in hard materials (material grade H) including hardened steels, steel, stainless steel, and cast iron (workpiece material codes H, P, M, K). Fits standard 1/4 inch collets and end mill holders on CNC machining centers.
Installation and use of this end mill should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with carbide tooling and high-hardness machining protocols. Ensure the spindle and work-holding are fully stopped and powered down before changing tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a properly sized, clean collet or end mill holder to the torque specification recommended by the holder manufacturer. When programming finishing passes in hardened materials, verify feeds, speeds, and axial depth of cut are appropriate for the workpiece hardness to avoid premature tool wear or breakage.
