The HARVEY TOOL 38320-C3 is a miniature corner radius end mill designed for precision metal removal in tight-tolerance machining applications. Built from solid carbide with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating, it handles steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. The 0.5 mm cutting diameter pairs with a 0.0050-inch corner radius to produce clean, repeatable edge breaks and floor transitions. With a 30-degree helix angle and 3-flute geometry, it supports both roughing and finishing passes. The extended reach design — 2.5 inches overall length on a 1/8-inch shank — gives access to recessed features and deep pockets where standard-length tools cannot reach.
This end mill is suited for precision CNC milling operations on machining centers and mill-turn platforms. The stub flute configuration keeps the cutting zone rigid while the long-reach shank clears workholding and fixture obstructions. Typical applications include micro-mold detail work, medical component machining, and fine-feature aerospace part production where consistent corner geometry and surface finish are critical. It is right-hand cut, right-hand flute, single-end, and centercutting, making it capable of plunge entry as well as peripheral and face milling.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders accepting a 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metal, and composite workpiece materials per manufacturer material application data.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the toolholder collet or chuck is clean and properly torqued before use, and verify runout with a dial indicator prior to cutting. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate programming matches the tool diameter — at 0.5 mm, cutting parameters are extremely sensitive to programming errors. Never exceed the rated depth of cut or apply side loads beyond what the extended-reach geometry supports, as carbide is brittle and can fracture without warning under shock loading.
