The HARVEY TOOL 37831-C6 is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for finishing operations in hardened steels and other hard materials. With a 1/32 inch (0.031 inch) cutting diameter and a 2-flute, right-hand helical design at a 20-degree helix angle, this tool is built for precision profile milling, contour finishing, and detail work in difficult-to-machine alloys. The AlTiN Nano PVD coating provides thermal resistance and hardness at the cutting edge, extending tool life in high-heat applications. The extended-reach stub-length geometry, combined with a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank, supports rigid setups in CNC machining centers where reach into tight part features is required.
This end mill is suited for finishing passes on hardened steel components, stainless steel, and cast iron in precision CNC milling applications. The 3/64 inch reach length (0.047 inch) and 0.0220 inch neck length make it appropriate for detail finishing in mold and die work, medical device machining, and aerospace component production where tight tolerances and fine surface finish are critical. Material removal type is classified as finishing, not roughing. The single-end configuration means the tool is indexed from one end only.
Designed for finishing operations in hard materials (Material Code H), with secondary workpiece compatibility in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron (Material Codes P, M, K). Fits standard 1/4 inch collets and end mill holders used in CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation and operation of this end mill should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before installing or removing the tool from the holder. Use a precision collet or shrink-fit holder appropriate for the 1/4 inch shank diameter to maintain runout tolerances required for small-diameter carbide tooling. At 1/32 inch diameter, this tool is highly susceptible to breakage from excessive feed rates, lateral loading, or improper fixturing - verify cutting parameters against the manufacturer's published speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material and hardness.
