The HARVEY TOOL 37712-C6 is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for high-performance milling in medium alloy steels, hard materials, and stainless steel. Built on the High Helix End Mills for Medium Alloy Steels series, this single-end tool features a 3/16 inch (0.1870 inch decimal) mill diameter, a 35-degree helix angle, and a tapered reach profile that makes it well suited for mold and die cavity work. The AlTiN Nano PVD coating provides thermal resistance and edge hardness for demanding cutting conditions. With 2 right-hand spiral flutes and a straight cylindrical shank, it handles both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool.
This end mill is designed for machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shops, mold shops, and production environments. The tapered reach geometry allows access to deep pockets and cavity features where standard end mills cannot reach without deflection. Primary workpiece materials include steel and hard materials (ISO P and H classifications). Secondary materials include stainless steel and cast iron (ISO M and K). Its 4 inch overall length and 3/8 inch shank diameter make it compatible with standard collet and end mill holders found on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines equipped with standard collet or end mill holders accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel and hard materials; secondary materials include stainless steel and cast iron.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop tooling procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or removing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on small-diameter carbide tools.
