The HARVEY TOOL 36962-C6 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-precision milling in medium alloy steels and other hard materials. It features a 1/16 inch (0.062 inch) mill diameter, a 2-flute helical configuration, and a 35-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting performance. The tapered reach geometry makes this tool well-suited for deep-cavity and mold-making applications where extended reach and minimal deflection are critical. An AlTiN Nano PVD coating provides thermal resistance and surface hardness, extending tool life in demanding ferrous cutting environments. Licensed machinists and toolroom operators are the primary users of this end mill.
This end mill is engineered for roughing and finishing operations on steel and hard material workpieces, with secondary suitability for stainless steel and cast iron. The tapered reach and extended neck design allow access to deep pockets, ribs, and mold cavities that standard-length tools cannot reach. The single-end, right-hand cutting and flute direction make it compatible with conventional CNC milling setups. It belongs to HARVEY TOOL's High Helix End Mills for Medium Alloy Steels series, specifically the Ball Tapered Reach (Mold Cutters) family within the Material Specific End Mills line.
Designed for use in CNC milling machines with straight-cylindrical shank toolholders accepting a 3/16 inch shank diameter. Primary workpiece materials are steel and hard materials (ISO P and H classifications); secondary workpiece materials include stainless steel and cast iron (ISO M and K classifications).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is disabled before loading or unloading the end mill. Secure the 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank in a collet or shrink-fit holder to the appropriate runout specification for the application. Verify spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut parameters against the tool manufacturer's recommended cutting data for the specific workpiece material before beginning a cut.
