The HARVEY TOOL 34714 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal, composites, and engineering plastics. The cutter measures 0.2187 inches (7/32 inch) in diameter with a 21/64-inch (0.33-inch) length of cut, a 1/4-inch shank diameter, and a 4-inch overall length. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Three flutes provide a balance between chip clearance and surface finish quality. The bright, uncoated finish makes this end mill well-suited for non-ferrous materials and applications where coating adhesion or thermal buildup is a concern. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is intended for single-end use in vertical milling machines, machining centers, and CNC mills. The extended reach design, with a reach length of 1.75 inches, allows access to deeper pockets and stepped features without requiring a longer shank assembly. It is centercutting, so it can be fed directly into a workpiece for plunge operations. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional spindle rotation. Typical applications include slot milling, profile milling, and pocket roughing or finishing in short-run and production environments.
Designed for use in standard 1/4-inch collets or end mill holders on vertical mills and CNC machining centers. Compatible with setups requiring a right-hand cut, right-hand flute, single-end square profile tool in the 0.3000 to 0.5000-inch length-of-cut range.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder to the recommended engagement depth per the holder manufacturer's guidelines, and verify runout with a dial indicator before production use. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine manufacturer specifications for speeds, feeds, and tool-change protocols.
