The HARVEY TOOL 32278-C3 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for finishing operations in hard materials, steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The cutter measures 0.0780 inches (5/64 inches) in diameter with a 13/32-inch length of cut and a 2.5-inch overall length. Three flutes with a variable, 20-degree right-hand spiral helix deliver efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes in tight geometries. An AlTiN PVD coating adds thermal and abrasion resistance, extending tool life in demanding cutting conditions. This tool is a single-end, long-flute design with a straight cylindrical 1/8-inch shank, sized for use in CNC machining centers and high-speed spindles.
The 32278-C3 is suited for finishing passes in hard material applications, particularly where small-diameter access and extended reach are required. The long-flute configuration allows cutting in deeper cavities and contoured features that shorter-reach tools cannot reach. Typical applications include die and mold work, aerospace component finishing, and precision part machining on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. The 1/8-inch shank is compatible with standard collets and toolholders used in miniature end mill applications.
Designed as an OEM-style miniature ball end mill for use in CNC machining applications requiring a 1/8-inch straight cylindrical shank. Part of the Harvey Tool Miniature End Mills - Ball - Long Flute series.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Secure the 1/8-inch straight shank in a properly sized collet or toolholder and torque to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for a 0.0780-inch diameter carbide end mill before engaging the cut. Inspect the cutting edges under magnification before use, as miniature carbide tools are brittle and susceptible to damage from improper handling or storage.
