The HARVEY TOOL 31855 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.0550-inch cutting diameter and a 0.275-inch length of cut, this end mill is built for small-diameter work where accuracy and tool rigidity are critical. The 0.125-inch shank diameter and 2.5-inch overall length allow it to seat securely in standard collet holders. Three flutes and a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and a smooth cutting action. The bright, uncoated finish makes it well-suited for a range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators performing fine detail work or finishing passes in tight geometries are the primary users.
This end mill is appropriate for light to moderate material removal in precision machining environments including job shops, aerospace component work, and mold and die applications. The small 0.0550-inch diameter makes it particularly useful for slotting, profiling, and contouring in confined areas or small-feature geometries. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction conform to standard CNC spindle rotation, requiring no special toolpath adjustments.
Designed for use in standard 1/8-inch collet holders and compatible tool holders accepting a 0.125-inch shank diameter. Suitable for CNC machining centers and manual mills configured for right-hand spindle rotation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the collet to the recommended engagement depth to minimize runout and prevent tool pullout during cutting. At small diameters, excessive feed rates or lateral forces can cause tool breakage - follow the manufacturer recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material.
