The HARVEY TOOL 31804 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for micro-scale milling operations. With a cutting diameter of 0.1 mm (0.0040 inches) and a 3-flute geometry, this tool is built for precision material removal in tight tolerances where tool deflection and runout must be minimized. The 30-degree helix angle balances chip evacuation against cutting force, making it well-suited for both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The bright, uncoated finish maintains sharp edge geometry without added coating thickness, which is critical at this diameter. Machinists and tooling technicians use this end mill in CNC machining centers and high-speed spindle setups.
The 31804 is designed for single-end use in applications requiring extremely fine feature detail, such as micro-channel machining, engraving, and small-part production. The 1/8-inch shank diameter allows it to seat in standard collets and toolholders found on precision CNC mills and engraving machines. With an overall length of 2.5 inches and a length of cut of 0.5 mm (0.02 inches), it is optimized for shallow passes at micro diameters rather than deep-pocket work. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC spindle operation.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and precision engraving machines equipped with collets or toolholders accepting a 1/8-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the spindle and toolholder are completely stopped and de-energized before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet to the recommended grip length and torque the collet nut per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. At 0.1 mm diameter, even minor runout will cause premature breakage; verify spindle runout with a dial indicator before first use.
