The HARVEY TOOL 27862-C7 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals, including aluminum alloys. It features a 0.062-inch cutting diameter, a 2-flute helical geometry with a 45-degree high helix angle, and a ZrN (zirconium nitride) PVD coating applied to enhance lubricity and tool life in aluminum and other gummy non-ferrous materials. The 0.031-inch nose radius produces accurate ball-end profiles for contour milling, slotting, and finishing passes. This is a single-end, right-hand cut and right-hand flute tool with a straight cylindrical shank. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shop, aerospace, mold, and general precision machining environments.
This end mill is suited for both roughing and finishing operations on non-ferrous metals, with aluminum alloys being the primary target material. The 0.186-inch reach length and 1.5-inch overall length make it appropriate for shallow-to-moderate pocket and profile work where a small-diameter ball is required. The high helix angle promotes chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces, which is especially useful at the small diameters and high spindle speeds typical in aluminum machining. It is part of HARVEY TOOL's High Helix End Mills for Aluminum Alloys series.
Designed for use with non-ferrous metals, with aluminum alloys as the primary workpiece material. Fits standard 1/8-inch collets and tool holders. Part of the HARVEY TOOL High Helix End Mills for Aluminum Alloys series.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or changing tooling. Use a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder to achieve full shank engagement and minimize runout. Confirm tool projection and reach against the programmed toolpath before cutting to avoid deflection or breakage at this small diameter.
