The HARVEY TOOL 27231 is a miniature solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling of tight-tolerance features in demanding materials. It carries a 0.0310-inch mill diameter, a 0.0100-inch corner radius, and four flutes in a right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle. The bright, uncoated carbide construction handles steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, aluminum, wood, and composites. Built as a single-end, centercutting tool, it is capable of both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup. Licensed machinists and CNC tool-and-die technicians are the primary installers of this tool class.
This end mill is well suited for miniature milling applications where a small mill diameter and tight corner radius control are required. The stub-to-standard length profile keeps the tool rigid at small diameters, reducing deflection during fine passes in hard materials. With a 3/32-inch length of cut and a 1/8-inch straight cylindrical shank, it seats directly in standard collet-style toolholders. Typical use cases include contour milling, slot milling, and profiling of small die cavities, medical components, and aerospace parts machined from steel, stainless, and cast iron workpieces.
Designed for use with standard collet-style toolholders accepting a 1/8-inch straight cylindrical shank. Part of the HARVEY TOOL Miniature End Mills - Corner Radius - Stub and Standard series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is in a safe state before loading or unloading the end mill. Seat the 1/8-inch shank fully into the collet bore and torque the collet nut to the toolholder manufacturer's specification using the appropriate spanner wrenches. At this mill diameter, runout control is critical — verify TIR at the collet face before commencing the cut.
