The HARVEY TOOL 24685-C3 is a miniature solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-precision milling in ferrous materials. With a 0.085-inch cutting diameter and a 0.127-inch length of cut, this stub-length tool delivers tight-tolerance profiling and finishing passes in confined workspaces. The 4-flute, right-hand helical configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining surface finish quality. An AlTiN PVD coating increases surface hardness and oxidation resistance, extending tool life in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron applications. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in tool-and-die, mold making, and precision component manufacturing will find this end mill suited to demanding small-feature work.
This end mill is built for steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials, covering material grades P, M, and K. Its stub length and 0.125-inch straight cylindrical shank make it a direct fit for standard 1/8-inch collet toolholders on VMCs, HMCs, and CNC router setups. It is suited to both roughing and finishing operations on small part features, slots, and contoured surfaces where tool rigidity and minimal deflection are critical. Single-end construction allows for precise tool-length offset management in automated machining environments.
Designed for use in 1/8-inch collet toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Suitable for CNC machining centers and milling machines accepting straight cylindrical shank tooling in the 1/8-inch shank diameter range.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify collet runout with a dial indicator before first use, as miniature-diameter tools are sensitive to runout-induced breakage. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and ANSI safety guidelines for tool clamping torque and minimum shank engagement depth.
