The HARVEY TOOL 24639-C3 is a miniature solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-precision milling in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. It features a 0.039 inch cutting diameter, a 4-flute helical geometry, and an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating that improves heat resistance and tool life in ferrous materials. At 1.5 inches overall length with a stub reach of 0.058 inches, this is a short, rigid tool built for accuracy in tight-tolerance work. It is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals running CNC milling centers.
This end mill is suited for finishing and roughing passes on small-feature molds, dies, and precision components where a miniature ball nose profile is required. The stub length classification provides maximum rigidity for micro-milling applications. Primary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K). The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC setups. This tool does not include coolant-through capability or a chipbreaker, keeping the geometry clean and predictable for fine detail work.
Designed as an OEM-style miniature ball end mill for CNC machining centers using standard straight-bore collet chucks or ER collets sized for a 0.125 inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. The spindle must be fully stopped and de-energized before changing tooling. Secure the shank in a clean, properly sized collet to the full recommended grip depth to prevent pullout under cutting load. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use, as micro-diameter carbide tools are sensitive to chipping from improper handling or crash contact.
