The HARVEY TOOL 24620-C4 is a miniature solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in demanding materials. With a 0.50 mm (0.0200 inch) cutting diameter and a 0.0300-inch length of cut, this tool is built for tight-tolerance work where tool size and rigidity are critical. It features 4 flutes in a right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle, optimized for both roughing and finishing operations. The Amorphous Diamond PVD coating enhances wear resistance and surface hardness, making it well-suited for abrasive and hard workpiece materials. Stub length geometry provides additional stiffness, reducing deflection during micro-milling operations.
This end mill is engineered for micro-scale milling applications in materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum and non-ferrous alloys. It is used in industries such as medical device manufacturing, aerospace component machining, mold and die work, and precision instrument production where very small feature sizes are required. The straight cylindrical shank at 0.1250 inches (1/8 inch) fits standard collet toolholders commonly found on CNC machining centers and high-speed spindles. It is a single-end, centercutting design, allowing plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling in miniature features.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and high-speed spindles equipped with standard collet toolholders accepting a 0.1250-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the collet to the recommended engagement depth before tightening to avoid runout. At sub-millimeter diameters, even minor runout or contamination in the toolholder can cause premature tool breakage; clean collet bores thoroughly before each tool change. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine builder guidelines for feeds, speeds, and depth of cut appropriate to this diameter and coating.
