The HARVEY TOOL 24615-C3 is a miniature solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-precision milling in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. With a cutting diameter of 0.015 inches and a 4-flute helical design, this single-end stub-length tool delivers consistent material removal in both roughing and finishing operations. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation at small diameters. An AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating increases surface hardness and thermal resistance, extending tool life in ferrous material applications where heat generation is a concern.
This end mill is built for micro-machining applications where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required. Stub-length geometry provides added rigidity, reducing deflection during aggressive passes in harder workpiece materials. Typical applications include mold and die work, medical component machining, aerospace detail parts, and precision tooling where a 1/64-inch ball profile is needed. The straight cylindrical shank allows direct mounting in standard collet chucks or end mill holders. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional CNC machining center setups.
Rated for primary use in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials (ISO material codes P, M, and K). Compatible with standard 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical collet chucks and end mill holders. Designed as a direct-fit replacement or equivalent for applications calling for HARVEY TOOL series Miniature End Mills - Ball - Stub and Standard.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an appropriate safe state. Ensure the collet and holder are clean and free of debris before seating the 0.125-inch shank to achieve accurate runout. Miniature end mills at this diameter are sensitive to runout and side-load; verify tool projection and holder concentricity before beginning a cut. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine builder guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut when working with this diameter range.
