The HARVEY TOOL 24048 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. It carries a 3/4 inch mill diameter, a 0.0300 inch corner radius, and a 4-flute right-hand spiral configuration that supports both roughing and finishing operations. With an overall length of 8 inches and a length of cut of 1-1/8 inches, this is an extended-reach tool intended for applications where standard-length end mills cannot access the workpiece. The bright, uncoated finish keeps it versatile across material types without coating-related temperature constraints. It is centercutting and single-end, suited for plunge entry as well as peripheral milling.
This end mill belongs to the Harvey Tool Miniature End Mills - Corner Radius - Extra Long Length series. The extended reach of 5-5/8 inches makes it well suited for deep-pocket milling, long-reach profiling, and cavity work in mold and die, aerospace, and precision machining environments. The 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard toolholders. The corner radius reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life in interrupted cuts and abrasive materials such as cast iron and stainless steel. It is equally applicable to composites and wood in specialty fabrication setups.
Designed for use with standard cylindrical-bore toolholders accepting a 3/4 inch straight shank. Applicable workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, composites, and wood.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and de-energized before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before engaging the first cut, particularly on extended-reach setups where deflection is a greater concern.
